Il Gobbo sees mate “No one is free to leave this earth without leaving footprints.
Thus it was that a bent God spared beauty from destruction.” mate and his 24 artist friends exhibit their works along a path designed to lead the visitor from the darkness of superstition to the light of reason and modernity. Superstition, as we know, is a component of the traditions and folklore of all the peoples of the world. In its broadest sense, it refers to all beliefs and practices that scientific experience declares irrational, but which continue to survive over time. It represents a way of exorcising human fears, regardless of rationality and culture, to cross the boundary into magic.
The exhibition The Art of the Superstitious in the prisons of Castel dell'Ovo, received such feedback that it became “Arte Napoli in New York” and found a place at MoMA in New York, The Museum of Modern Art, a symbolic place of contemporary art in the world.
